Different Decade Assignment

Hello Class! For history I was thinking that for next week we'd cover a little bit of popular culture from different decades! The decades we will be discussing are the: 1950's, 1960's, 1970's, 1980's, and the 1990's. What we will do is next Friday we will be having a "Pop culture day" celebrating phenomenons from the decades. This includes music, style of clothing, hair styles, but also what major historical events were taking place at that time. What I'd like you to do is choose one of these time frames, research what was going on culturally, and historically and share your findings with the class. I would like you to come up with at least FIVE different facts. Also, if you dress like you're from the era then I will award you 5 bonus points! This is a lot of fun and I would love to see all of you dressed in a different decade.

If you had a time machine, who would you be?

If you could go back in time and be any prominent member in our history who would you be? There have been hundreds of men and women who have impacted America. Here I have provided a list for you to choose from and I would like you to give me a detailed description of the person and why they're important to American history.

Parts of Speech

I think it's important that we go over the different parts of speech in class. This week we will be discussing nouns. What I would like you to do is present me a list of five different Proper and Common nouns on blogger. Next I would like you to write a paragraph with these ten nouns you gave me using them correctly. Make up a creative paragraph and be ready to share to the class and tell us the nouns you chose to use.

Book Reviews

Every month you are to complete an SSR reading book. Along with this I am expecting you to write a book review on what you've read. All you need is one page. The first paragraph you will give me a summary and the second you will tell me your opinion on the book, how you'd rate it, and if you'd recommend it to anyone else to read.

Interview Assignment

My grandfather was born during the Great Depression and fought in the Korean War. He has told me some interesting stories about growing up.

Many of you would be very surprised to know that someone you know would have an interesting story to tell. Your assignment is to construct an interview with someone you know and get them to tell you an interesting story. The story you want is something relating to history. The best people to ask would be grandparents. Come up with a list of ten questions with answers and be ready to share your findings with the class! Remember, make sure it's a story dealing with history.

Quote reflection Assignment

"Never let the Fear of Striking out, keep you from playing the game."
-This quote is from one of my favorite movies, A Cinderella Story. It has a good meaning to it and it basically says that don't let fear stop you or get in the way of your dreams. It has a unique way about it because it says it in a way that's interesting and appealing instead of flat out saying what it truly means. Quotes like these are very popular and make you think.

-Your assignment is to choose a quote from my list I provide you and write a reflection on it and what it means to you.

What's your heritage???

Hello class! Can you guess where my family is from just by looking at these flags? If you guessed Poland and Italy than you are correct! What I'm interested to know is what your heritage is and where your family is from.

For this weeks history journal tell me a little about who you are.

"My Celebrity Role Model" journal assignment

-Carrie Underwood is my favorite singer for many reasons. Not only does she have a phenomenal voice but she is also an active member who participates in "Idol Gives back" which is a program dedicated to people in need. I feel that you're a good role model to young people if you present yourself well and help give back to those less fortunate than you.
Class, as you can see this week's assigment for a journal entry is to write about someone that inspires you. I would like you to pick someone who has presented themselves well to our society. Before you post anything please make sure to have the person you select approved by me. You may choose someone like Carrie Underwood but make sure they inspire you in some way other than their looks or what they wear.
